One of the most important factors in resolving any problem consists of continuously obtaining a trustworthy description of the situation of concern as it unfolds. It is a difficult process, because it produces and relies on a reasonably good account of the situation, generally unavailable at the start.

This complexity is the basis of the relatively high percentage of failures (80%+ according to some sources) of IT projects. Rather than looking at each situation as unique, the appeal of simplicity leads to “copy/paste” ; transferring solutions from one context to another without thinking too much about it. It is rarely recognized that each written code is based on a philosophy, ways of seeing and doing that would rarely be adapted to all situations. This brings us back to the need for a solid methodological approach.

Since 2014, the group of independent consultants now operating under the label of “HOps” has made its way by assisting mainly private and governmental institutions, and exceptionally individuals, in fields as varied as education, reproductive health, mass production, complaint management, construction of school and health infrastructure, agricultural service roads, etc.

Its interventions are not limited to data collection. They extend to other operational aspects but, always along with tailor-made pieces of software, some of which are used only once. Of course, this requires learning while implementing, flexibility and agility,  which the management of HOps happens to have made its workhorses.
